Pi Alpha Chapter of Theta Tau Theta Sorority In the beginning… On May 22, 1963 the existing chapters of Theta Tau Theta were contacted seeking approval of a new chapter to be located in Hanford, California. As a result, Pi Alpha was born. Now in our 46th year we are planning our fund raising efforts, hosting a Christmas family, induction of new officers in February, gifting our secret sisters, sharing our pledge with others in hopes of expanding our chapter, organizing our donations to Bearskin Meadow Camp, and hosting this year’s sorority conclave which will be held in Morro Bay in September. Our chapter meets the first and third Thursday of each month for a business meeting and then a social meeting. Our goal is to benefit diabetic children and their families with the experience of summer camp supervised by skilled doctors and nurses. This opportunity has given many families a new outlook on life with diabetes. Our group makes available scholarships for camp, we raise money for improvements to Bearskin Meadow Camp, deliver fruits and vegetables for camp meals, and each year we send a monetary donation to the Diabetic Youth Foundation. Our future objectives are clear: Maintain our mission of dedication to children affected with diabetes and to share our goals with others who wish to help Theta Tau Theta and Pi Alpha chapter’s continued efforts. If you would like to join us, have a child interested in camp or find out how you can help please contact: Merdys Roberts at 559-582-7234 or Janet Rachford at 559-583-8336
