Alpha Alpha Chapter of Theta Tau Theta Sorority was formed in 1922 in Sacramento, California.  We are a non-profit organization and sponsor Bearskin Meadow Camp, which is also a non-profit organization.  Alpha’s members are women from the Sacramento area. We currently have thirteen active members and four active associates.  We have some new members and members that have been in for thirty and forty years.  This is a great group of women.

Alpha Alpha Chapter holds one major fund raising event each year.   On Saturday, February 28, 2009 we will host our 35th annual dinner dance.  This event is a Crab Feed which is held at the S.E.S. Hall in Elk Grove, California.  We serve approximately 430 dinners, hold a raffle, a silent and live auction and have a DJ and dancing.  In addition to this event, we host a Mother’s Day luncheon each year, a Christmas party, a day with our families at the River Cats, dinners, plays and a number of other activities throughout the year.  The proceeds from the dinner dance and any other fund raising events we may host during the year are donated to Bearskin Meadow Camp.  This camp provides children and their families with the knowledge that they are not alone with their diabetes and teaches then how to manage their diabetes.  This camp provides them with lasting friendships, future medical contacts and many of them return as camp counselors.

Alpha Alpha Chapter holds one business meeting and one social each month except for the months of July and August.  We are always looking for new members to join us.  If you are seeking a social organization as well as a charity to support then you can contact Kathy Bristol at (916) 381-1037 or e-mail her at kbristol6@comcast.net for more information.
